Full mouth reconstruction is a way to change and refurbish the way your mouth looks completely. The shape, size, position, and color of your teeth can be improved to look exactly the way you want. If you have dental problems from decay, misuse, or congenital disabilities, full mouth reconstruction can restore your mouth and improve your self-confidence. Through the use of orthodontic, endodontic, prosthodontic, and periodontal treatments, we can achieve the best aesthetic outcome possible. Having a healthier mouth will enable you to have better overall health.
It’s Time to Smile Again
Do you have missing or misshapen teeth that you want to have repaired? At our practice in Port St. Lucie Full mouth reconstruction can take a broken smile and make it whole again. Reconstructing your mouth can also help you chew and eat more effectively, thus helping digestive issues you may be having from unchewed food.
If you have removable dentures but are unhappy with the slipping and other associated problems, full mouth reconstruction with implants and overdentures can make those problems disappear. With Full mouth reconstruction Port St. Lucie patients can also expect some benefits such as fixing an overbite or underbite causing speech and eating problems. Bone loss in the jaw from pulled teeth or changes in the shape of your jaw can be addressed during your session with a full mouth reconstruction.
Improve Your Dental Health
We will discuss your dental care and full mouth reconstruction options during your consultation. A full mouth reconstruction is sometimes unnecessary, and braces or crowns can solve your issues. The best candidates for full mouth reconstruction are in reasonably good health, non-smokers, and no osteoporosis or bleeding disorders that may preclude you from having dental implants.
Also, any age-related diseases should be discussed during your consultation. We always try to keep healthy natural teeth if possible. However, sometimes we cannot save all your teeth, and in that event, we would need to extract damaged teeth and build new implants and overdentures to restore your smile and dental health. Once we decide which procedures to use, we will assess how to proceed. We can then begin planning for your beautiful new smile.
Precision Surgery | Precision Prosthetics
Lucie Dental offers a range of full mouth reconstruction procedures tailored to your specific needs. These include All-on-X, full arch bridges, quadrant bridges, upper and lower crowns, as well as bridges with attachments to stabilize removable partial dentures. We also offer snap-in and partial dentures with implants for added stability and comfort. Our experienced team can help you determine which option is right for you based on your goals and needs.
The following is a brief explanation of each of these interventions:
Orthodontics treats irregularities of the teeth and jaw, including alignment and occlusion or hidden teeth, usually through braces.
Endodontics deals with treating the gums or soft tissues of the mouth.
Prosthodontics treatments include the design, manufacture, and fitting of artificial replacements for teeth.
Periodontics is the treatment of the gums, including cleaning and scaling the roots of the teeth.
Full Mouth Reconstruction/Rehabilitation is a highly effective solution for missing teeth. Dental Implants can help restore your smile and improve your overall quality of life. By providing a stable and durable foundation for replacement teeth, implants offer superior function and aesthetics compared to other options. The comprehensive nature of this treatment is why this procedure is called full mouth reconstruction. For many of these treatments, you will need to be given local anesthesia as well as sedation to ensure your comfort during the procedure.
New Mouth, New You
Quite simply, full mouth reconstruction results are stunning. Patients go from having crooked, missing, and misshapen teeth to having a full set of beautiful, healthy teeth. It’s important to remember, however, that this is a process and that each procedure builds on the previous procedure so that improvement is seen over time. When we are finished with your full mouth reconstruction, you will have the beautiful smile you have always wanted. Full mouth reconstruction also has health benefits, improving your ability to chew your food, preventing bone loss, and treating any underlying gum disease.
Supportive Care
Depending on the procedure you have, you should take at least a couple of days off work in order to heal after implants or other invasive procedures. If we are extracting teeth or engaging in a deep cleaning under the gums, a day or so off work to fully heal is recommended. If swelling or discomfort is associated with the procedure, ice packs can be used to alleviate these symptoms. We can prescribe pain medication, or you can use over-the-counter pain medication to alleviate any discomfort you may feel after the procedures. There may be some soreness, as this is expected when performing reconstructive surgery on the mouth. Be patient, however, because this will diminish over time, and your new, healthy smile will be a reward for any discomfort you may go through.
Plan on having a recovery period of three or more months, especially if dental implants are placed in the jaw, as this is the time needed for implant osseointegration into the surrounding bone. This recovery time could be longer if a bone graft is called for.
After the initial healing period and once you get used to your new teeth, with dental implants and overdentures, you should be able to eat anything you were able to eat with a full set of teeth. These procedures will allow you to eat more foods than before because now you have a full set of stronger teeth to bite and chew with.
